PUdaily, Shanghai--Launched in 2019 by EuPC, the European Plastics Converters trade association, with the aim of promoting the use of recycled material by plastics converters, the More seal acknowledges the commitment of companies to achieve a circular economy model.

MOnitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE) — is an online tool designed to monitor and register the industry’s efforts to reach the EU target of 10 million tonnes of recycled polymers being used annually between 2025 and 2030.

The MORE platform is open to all converting companies that use recycled polymers in their products. The IT platform was developed by European Plastics Converters (EuPC), in cooperation with its members. It provides insight into industry efforts to increase the use of recycled materials and delivers concrete numbers to present to policymakers.

In 2019, the French Fédération de la plasturgie et des composites initiated the creation of a label to mark companies’ registration with the European-wide MORE programme. This initiative was soon copied by the other countries participating in MORE, including Spain. In Spain, the platform is supported by the Spanish association for the plastics industry ANAIP.

Now, Spain-based converter Coexpan, a subsidiary company of Grupo Lantero, has joined the initiative, the company has announced, thereby earning the right to use the MORE seal of approval. The company is active in other ways as well. It recently joined the Chilean Plastics Pact, an initiative based on circularity and launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation aimed at achieving a sustainable future for plastics and is an active participant in different projects on the circular economy and the recycling of the main thermoplastic polymers.

This includes the EU-subsidised EPS SURE Life Project for the design of an innovative system for the collection, pre-treatment and recycling expanded polystyrene waste with as aim to produce new polystyrene packaging that is suitable for food contact.

And together with its flexible packaging sister division Emsur, Coexpan also recently opened INNOTECH a new innovation and development centre for projects to develop more efficient and sustainable packaging aimed at a more circular approach, with a focus on eco-design and recyclability.
