BASF India Limited has begun construction on a new plant in Dahej to enhance the production capacity of its Cellasto® microcellular polyurethane (MCU), set to be operational by the second half of 2026. This move aligns with BASF’s "Winning Ways" strategy, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and automation to ensure high safety and quality standards.
The new plant will support the growing demand in India, particularly in the automotive sector, offering NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) reduction solutions. Cellasto® first established a plant in Dahej in 2014, marking its commitment to the Indian market. The expansion will cater to local OEMs and position Cellasto® as a preferred partner for automotive NVH solutions in India.
BASF’s Vice President for Global Business Management, Bjoern Kophstahl, emphasized the flexibility of the new facility, allowing for scalable production to meet increasing demand. Alexander Gerding, Managing Director of BASF India, also noted that this expansion will strengthen BASF's position as a key player in the Indian automotive market.
