On July 16,2025 Covestro declares FORCE MAJEURE for their products:

• TDA / TDI 

• oTDA-based products 

• Polyether polyol (PET) products

Due to a fire in an external transformer station in building L26 at Chempark Dormagen early Saturday morning on July 12, 2025, there was a sudden and unpredictable power outage in parts of the Chempark. In addition to the process control system, Covestro's PUD and PET operations as well as the chlorine plant were also affected by this incident, which had to be shut down to a safe state. The specific impacts of this incident cannot yet be assessed by Covestro. Furthermore, it is not foreseeable how long this condition, the interruption of the power supply, and the failure of the process control system will last.

The chlorine produced in the affected plant is an essential basic chemical for many downstream production facilities of local companies. The missing product quantities can neither be compensated by deliveries from other plants nor by material purchases from other manufacturers in the short term or completely. For this reason, the chlorine supply to our downstream production operations, for example the TDI plant in Dormagen, is also interrupted, and significant delivery delays, reductions, and interruptions are be expected for all affected products.

Covestro is working intensively on further assessing the consequences of the fire for production as well as checking possible alternative power supplies and restarting the process control system for the affected operations in order to resume production as soon as possible.

During the duration of the force majeure, Covestro cannot guarantee deliveries. However, wherever reasonably possible, Covestro will inform you about potential alternative solutions.
