Safic-Alcan announced on 1 October 2025 that it has acquired a majority stake in the Latin American speciality chemicals distributor Anders. Headquartered in Paris La Défense, the company is extending its footprint in South America, complementing its already established activities in Brazil. Founded in 1964 and now managed by the third generation under Peter Anders Hornung, Anders is based in Lima, Peru, and operates across Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, with additional structures in Uruguay and Paraguay.
Anders supplies speciality chemicals, food ingredients, consumables and equipment to both life science sectors – such as personal, home care and hygiene, pharmaceuticals, and food and nutrition – and industrial markets, including coatings, inks and adhesives, packaging, construction and asphalt, plastics, and water treatment.
Strategic strengthening of the distribution network
This acquisition creates a pan-Latin American network that links Safic-Alcan’s activities in North and South America. The company is already present in the United States, Canada and Mexico and aims to reinforce its position as a key distributor in the Americas over the long term. A new technology centre with seven application laboratories is also planned to provide technical support and innovation for customers and suppliers in the region.
According to CEO Yann Lissillour, Safic-Alcan intends to deliver added technical value and market-driven solutions to customers in Latin America. Peter Anders Hornung emphasised that both companies share core values such as trust, responsibility, expertise and entrepreneurship. By integrating Anders, Safic-Alcan aims to consolidate its role in speciality chemicals and coatings distribution.
