Huntsman Introduces EUR 200/ton Natural Gas Surcharge on MDI in EAMEI

PUdaily | Updated: March 5, 2026

On March 5, Huntsman Corporation announced that due to recent developments in the Middle East, European natural gas prices have risen sharply, significantly increasing the production cost of MDI.

Although the company is actively seeking ways to mitigate the cost impact, it stated that it is unable to fully absorb the increase. As a result, Huntsman will implement a natural gas surcharge of EUR 200 per ton on all MDI products sold in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India (EAMEI).

The surcharge will take effect immediately where contract terms allow and will be applied in addition to previously communicated MDI prices.

Huntsman also noted that given the evolving situation in the Middle East, the surcharge level may be adjusted accordingly.
